Club América announce loan deal for Villarreal's Santiago Cáseres

Club América have been busy in this winter’s transfer window and they have added another potential player that can step up in the wake of Guido Rodríguez’s departure to Real Betis.

On Wednesday, América announced the arrival of 22-year-old defensive midfielder Santiago Cáseres on loan from Villarreal. The deal includes an option-to-buy at the end of the 2020 Clausura.

Cáseres has not made a single appearance for Villarreal this season. Last season, the Argentine made 34 appearances (26 starts) but was often criticised for his lack of discipline, as he picked up a staggering 15 yellow cards.

Villarreal purchased the player from Vélez Sarsfield in summer 2018 for €10m ($11m).
