On Wednesday, Los Angeles Galaxy and former Juventus striker Zlatan Ibrahimović defended his criticism of Cristiano Ronaldo going to Juventus.

Ronaldo stunned the world by moving to Juve from Real Madrid in a €110m move, saying he needed a new challenge.

However, Ibrahimović denies that his decision to go to Italy was, by definition, a challenge.

“I did not say he was not great; I said it was not a challenge to choose Juventus,” Ibrahimović told DAZN.

“It’s not a challenge to go to one of the strongest teams in the world, maybe it depends on what you mean by challenge.

“To me, it means taking a team and bringing it up. This is a challenge.

“In any case, it is a great purchase for Italian football because thanks to him, the Serie A grows, which is my second home.”

Juve will take on relegation-threatened Frosinone on Friday before traveling to Spain to take on Atlético Madrid on Wednesday in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie.
