Zinedine Zidane is “confident” Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos will not be leaving the club this summer.
That’s according to Spanish outlet Marca, who report that Zidane and Ramos have already had a lengthy discussion about the 33-year-old’s role in which Ramos expressed some doubts and concerns about his future at the club.
The Spanish international defender is still under contract until 2021 but reports last week suggested he was considering his position after a falling out with club president Florentino Pérez and could be set for a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Liverpool both said to be interested.
However, Zidane still values Ramos highly and the coach is believed to be hopeful that the player can settle his differences with Pérez once he returns from his holiday in the United States.
Ramos has been at Madrid since 2005 but this isn’t the first time the former Sevilla man has reportedly been on the brink of leaving the club.
In the summer of 2016 he was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford amid talk he was unhappy at the Bernabéu but in the end he stayed put and signed a new contract.
Marca claim the most concrete offer he has on the table at the moment is from a club in China and it currently seems more likely he will stay with Los Blancos than leave.
But time will tell, and his next meeting with Pérez is likely to be a crucial factor in his decision making.
