Zinedine Zidane reportedly opted against signing Christian Eriksen for Real Madrid due to him ‘lacking punch’.
Eriksen confirmed earlier this month that it might be time for a ‘new challenge’, sparking rumours of a summer departure.
According to MARCA, Zidane and members of the Real hierarchy were put off by his Champions League final performance despite his largely productive season.
Los Blancos have since turned their full attention to Paul Pogba who has confirmed his desire to leave Manchester United.
With other top European clubs well stocked in midfield areas, it’s entirely plausible that Eriksen will be playing in north London next season.
Elsewhere, Tottenham are close to sealing their first signing since 2018 after agreeing a €12m fee with Leeds for Jack Clarke.
