Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane believes the club’s biggest mistake was not buying Tanguy Ndombele this summer.

Ndombele enjoyed a standout 2018/19 season for Lyon, before Tottenham broke their transfer record (€70m) to sign him in July.

According to Defensa Central, Zidane was left ‘disappointed’ after Los Blancos officials opted against signing the midfielder.

The Frenchman reportedly saw Ndombele as the perfect alternative to Casemiro and Luka Modrić, who have both endured mixed terms.

The 22-year-old has settled well in North London, scoring twice and assisting three in 14 appearances.

Real Madrid do, however, hold an interest in Spurs’ contract rebel Christian Eriksen and could bid for the playmaker in January.
