Manchester United could look to sign Youri Tielemans should Paul Pogba leave the club this season.
That’s according to a report from the Independent, who do state, however, that the Belgian international is not their first option.
The 22-year-old starred for Leicester City while on loan from Monaco for the second half of the season and is open to signing a permanent deal with the Foxes.
Leicester, Tottenham, and United are all battling for his signature and on Wednesday, he admitted that negotiations have been progressing.
“We’ll see which club it will be. The only thing I can say is that things are moving,” he said.
“A lot of clubs have shown interest and we’ll see in the next few weeks which club it will be.
“(Manchester United and Spurs) are really big teams in England and in Europe so yeah, it’s flattering to hear those names.
“For me, it’s good, it gives me confidence. I’ll just try to play my game on the pitch and to do my best.”
Tielemans is currently with Belgium as they prepare to take on Kazakhstan and Scotland in their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers, set to take place on Saturday and Tuesday, respectively.
In 13 Premier League games with Leicester City this season, Tielemans contributed three goals and five assists.
