Yaya Touré hasn’t featured all that often for Manchester City this term and this could well be his final season at the club.

If it is the end for Touré and City, the Ivorian is looking to make sure it’s a memorable one.

Speaking to reporters after his side’s 2-1 win over Bristol City in the first league of their EFL Cup semi-final on Tuesday, Touré explained how much it would mean to him to play for silverware again.

“It’s always special to play at Wembley. I love to play at this ground because I well remember 2011 and then the other cup finals after that,” he said.

“We still have a big game to get there, but to go there again would be massive — it’s always a big crowd and a special atmosphere.

“But the second leg will be a tough game. And it’s very challenging because we will have to switch off from the league and go to the FA Cup, this semifinal and then the Champions League in the next few weeks.”

As Touré alluded to, City are still in contention for four separate trophies. The midfielder thinks his side have what it takes to capture them all.

“We are optimistic. We know it’s going to be difficult because the Premier League is so tough and now the FA Cup has come as well,” he noted.

“But we aim to do the max we can. We can see where we are going, but if we can continue to win games like this … maybe. We will see.”

And he’s not planning on stopping at that. Touré said he wants City to be a force for years to come.

“We want to be a big team in England. United have been there a long time and have that history, like Chelsea and even Arsenal,” he explained.

“To be that big team we have to win trophies and do well in Europe — so we need to keep momentum.”

Touré and company will turn their immediate attention to Sunday’s ‘Big Six’ Premier League meeting with Liverpool at Anfield.
