Wolves are hoping to pip Manchester United to the signature of Monaco defender Benoît Badiashile.
That’s according to French outlet L’Equipe, who report on Tuesday that Wolves have informed Monaco they are willing to pay as much as €40m for the 18-year-old.
The offer has reportedly come via super agent Jorge Mendes and is being taken very seriously by the Ligue 1 club, but sources tell L’Equipe that Wolves believe they have a 50-50 chance of signing the youngster.
Manchester United have also been credited with an interested in Badiashile, who made 20 appearances in the French top flight last season and two in the Champions League.
Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo is looking to add depth to his squad this summer as the Molineux outfit prepare to embark on their first ever Europa League adventure.
A ball-playing centre-back like Badiashile would certainly fit the profile of player they are targeting, and Mendes’ strong links to both clubs could be key to getting a deal over the line.
