Aside from signing loan stars Raúl Jiménez and Leander Dendoncker to permanent deals, Wolves have yet to make a splash in the summer window.

To ease any concerns from supporters, chairman Jeff Shi has assured the club will add to the squad before the 8 August Premier League transfer deadline.

“The team is still the core. If we can’t win games on the pitch it will not be helpful for us.

“So we are going to continue to invest in the squad and improve. I know some fans are maybe a little bit nervous, but we are working really hard.

“So don’t worry, we will be ready.”

Wolves found out Thursday that they will face Northern Ireland side Crusaders F.C. in their Europa League second qualifying round clash after they saw off B36 Tórshavn of the Faroe Islands 5-2 on aggregate.

Though Wolves will have to deal with the additional stress from playing a minimum of 12 additional games should they progress to the group stage, Shi is confident his side will not suffer.

“We have one more championship to play for but we have a very good medical team and sports science team. We have a small squad but we have strong U23 and U18 teams to support them.

“So I am not so worried about too many games for us. The thing is trying to find the right way to improve the level of our squad.”
