Just three days after his official presentation as Zenit’s newest player, Wilmar Barrios made his debut in the Zenit St. Petersburg kit in a friendly match played in Murcia, Spain against Luxembourg’s Dudelange.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who was sold from Boca Juniors for €15m on 1 February, went the full 90 minutes, showing that he is obviously match-fit.

Despite leaving a very good impression on the coaching staff, the Colombian was not able to affect the scoreline and the match ended 0-0.

The language barrier was not an impediment for the Colombian to communicate with his team-mates, as Barrios had the support of the Ecuadorian Christian Noboa, who served as his interpreter on the pitch.

Barrios and Zenit will continue to prepare for their next official match, which will take place on 12 February against Fenerbahçe, in Turkey, in the Europa League round-of-32.
