Weston McKennie will miss the USA’s game with Chile on Tuesday after suffering an ankle injury in last week’s win over Ecuador.

McKennie will now return to club side Schalke where he will continue his recovery under the watchful eye of the German’s medical department.

US national team boss Gregg Berhalter confirmed to ESPN that the exciting youngster will miss the match this week, although the injury is hoped to be nothing too serious.

“McKennie is out but there’s nothing broken,” he said.

Reports had indicated that McKennie was seen leaving the stadium in Orlando with a boot on, but that is believed to just be precautionary.
