New York Red Bulls centre-back Aaron Long is currently being coveted by West Ham but his potential move is currently being scuppered by logistical issues.

According to Sky Sports, the Hammers are having difficulty completing a deal for the reigning Major League Soccer Defender of the Year due to his inability to get a work permit.

On Benny Feilhaber’s ‘BS The Podcast’, Long confirmed his desire to leave the Red Bulls.

“I don’t know, man. I have no idea when I’m going, where I’m going, if I’m going at all,” said Long of a potential move abroad.

“All I know is that offers have came in and got rejected right now by the Red Bulls.

“Obviously it’s a Prem team that made an offer and I’m sure the same is for you guys, what a dream it would be to play in that league … since I was young I’ve been watching them.

“It would be a dream, for sure. I think I would rather be abroad, taking my game to the next level.”

Marseille, Fiorentina, Rennes, and Lyon are also interested in Long, who has a £4m release clause.
