Declan Rice has opened the door to a move by Chelsea after admitting he would “love to” link up with friend Mason Mount at club level again.

The pair came up through the ranks together before the Blues decided to let Rice go in 2014.

Mount remained with Chelsea, while Rice joined London rivals West Ham.

Both players continued to progress at their respective clubs, and are now established first-team players.

Speaking to Copa90, Rice spoke openly of his desire to play with his old mate week in, week out.

“Yeah I’d love to, I’d love to play with him at club level again,” Rice said.

“One thing we’ve always said as kids, we’d love to play with each other at club and international level.

“But obviously you never know because of different paths and things like that.”

The two 21-year-olds both made their senior international debuts for England in 2019, and were expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad before the tournament was postponed.

The chances of Mount moving east along the Thames to West Ham are pretty slim, so it’s hard to interpret Rice’s comments as anything other than a ‘come-and-get-me’ plea to Chelsea.
