Recently appointed West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini hopes to sign the young Frenchman and set the tone for his tenure.

Issa Diop has represented France over three dozen times at various youth levels and French daily L’Équipe report that he will sign a five-year contract at the Hammers.

Having established himself in Ligue 1 since breaking into the Toulouse lineup at the age of 18, Diop is one of the more coveted young defenders in Europe.

Despite serious interest from Everton and Spanish side Sevilla, the centre back looks set to move to London for €25m.

After agreeing to terms with former Fulham fullback Ryan Fredericks, Diop would be the second defensive addition for Pellegrini.

West Ham were level with relegated Stoke City with the worst defensive record, conceding 68 goals in the 2017/18 Premier League season.
