According to the Daily Mail, West Ham are amongst a slew of clubs that are interested in bringing Joe Allen back to the Premier League.
Despite being in the relegation zone, Stoke City’s manager Michael O’Neill has been given demands to slash their wage bill and the Wales international is on the chopping block.
The 29-year-old is on a reported £65,000-per-week deal until 2022 and Stoke are asking a whopping £15m for his services – far more than what West Ham are willing to pay.
The Hammers only wish to pay around £8m, and Stoke’s high asking price has scared clubs like Burnley, Wolves, and Newcastle in the past.
Allen has recently got under the skin of some Stoke supporters, cupping his hands over his ears after scoring one of his two goals against Luton Town in response to their fans booing the team earlier in the match.
Allen joined Stoke from Liverpool in 2016 for £13m and has played 143 games for the club.
