West Ham and Newcastle are each sending scouts to watch Venezuelan Jefferson Savarino face off against Brazil on Wednesday.
That’s according to a report from Sky Sports, who claim both clubs have been tracking the 22-year-old winger for some time.
Savarino has been plying his trade at the club level with Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake and has notched three goals and a pair of assists in 13 games this season.
It’s believed that Savarino will be available for £6m.
Newcastle have recent experience dealing with MLS sides, having brought in Miguel Almirón from Atlanta United for a club-record €24m fee in January.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are still fighting to sign Savarino’s compatriot Salomón Rondón to a permanent deal, though the Magpies are unlikely to strike any deals until both their managerial and ownership situations have been finalised.
