Max Kruse will leave Werder Bremen at the end of the season.

The Bremen captain has been superb this season, scoring 11 goals and creating a further nine in the Bundesliga.

Now, though, the 31-year-old will leave the club at the end of his contract.

“I’ve enjoyed my three years playing here and have proudly led the team as captain in recent times. That will always be a special memory to me,” Kruse said in a statement released on the club’s website.

Kruse started his professional career with Bremen but left the club in 2009 having made just one start for the first team.

Upon returning in 2016, he quickly became a crucial member of the squad and has scored 34 goals in 88 appearances in all competitions.
