We now know why Roger Martínez has been absent from América training

One of the biggest mysteries surrounding América this week has been the sudden and unexpected absence of Roger Martínez.

The 25-year-old has been one of América’s most important players this season, especially when you consider their massive injury troubles.

Martínez has started every match this season but there’s now reason to believe he could miss this weekend’s all important duel with Querétaro.

Though there were rumours that there was some in-fighting, it’s now been clarified that Martínez has went back to his native Colombia to deal with legal troubles with his former partner after the club granted him permission to leave.

This is the same reason that nearly cost him his place in Colombia’s Copa America squad and that almost kept him off Miguel Herrera’s side at the beginning of the season.
