The sixth round of the 2019 Liga MX Clausura began with a last-gasp 2-0 Tigres victory, thanks to a late brace from Francisco Venegas.
Veracruz continued their winless start to the season and are on just two points through six matches, and look certain to either be relegated or pay the 120 million peso (€5.5m) fine to stay in Liga MX.
Tigres dominated their opponents, outshooting them 24-2 and not allowing a single shot on goal.
Veracruz goalkeeper Sebastián Jurado was the hero of the match, making seven saves until the waning moments of the match.
In the 87th minute, Venegas finally broke the deadlock, smashing the rebound into the top corner.
Deep into stoppage time, Vanegas completed his brace to secure the win.
Tigres have temporarily jumped to the top of the table and will next face Necaxa, who are currently in third.
