It seems Valencia are counting down the seconds until the transfer window closes.

According to Marca, Los Che fear they could have difficulty holding onto Rodrigo should Real Madrid come in with a late offer for the forward.

New Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui is understood to be a big fan of the 27-year-old after selecting him in Spain’s World Cup squad, and Madrid could make a play to sign him later in the transfer window if they are unable to land other targets.

A number of Premier League clubs along with Napoli are also thought to have expressed an interest in Rodrigo, and though his release clause is €120m, Valencia would probably consider bids in the region of €60-80m for the player.

Rodrigo has previously said he’d be happy to stay at the Mestalla and Valencia have no urgent need to sell, but an offer from Real Madrid – where he began his career – would surely be too good to refuse.

In the meantime, Valencia are reportedly still hoping to sign Gonçalo Guedes before the window slams shut at the end of August.

Paris Saint-Germain rejected a €40m offer for the Portuguese midfielder earlier this summer but it seems the player is not in Thomas Tuchel’s plans and Valencia are still hopeful of doing a deal.

After Guedes was left out of PSG’s pre-season tour squad earlier this week, Valencia owner Peter Lim is said to have travelled to Paris to resume negotiations and if he doesn’t return to La Liga permanently, another loan move is a possibility.
