Valencia have officially parted ways with head coach Marcelino.
After threatening to resign this summer, it’s understood that owner Peter Lim has decided to terminate the contract of Marcelino, with sporting director Mateu Alemany to follow.
The 54-year-old departs having guided Los Che to Copa del Rey glory in May, beating Barcelona 2-1.
In an official statement, the club said: “Valencia CF announced on Wednesday to Marcelino García Toral his dismissal as coach of the first team.
“The club wants to thank you for your work and dedication during your time in our entity and wish you the greatest success for the future.”
Former Spain Under-21 boss Albert Celades is the early favourite to take over.
