Vakoun Bayo admits that Brendan Rodgers’ sudden exit has made life even harder for him at Celtic.

The 22-year-old was signed for €3m from Slovak outfit Dunajska Streda, but has only managed three minutes of top-flight action against Kilmarnock.

Bayo now faces a fight to convince manager Neil Lennon but insists he is ready for the fight.

“The departure of Rodgers has somewhat mixed my plans,” he told the Daily Record.

“It is not easy with new boss who runs the team. But as a professional, I give the best of me to convince him.

“I have played only one match with the first team since my arrival.

“Afterwards, I have taken part in several matches with the reserves, but given what I can produce on the field, I should quickly find the top team.

“I am a fighter. If I’m at Celtic, it’s because I have a talent, so it’s up to me to fight to win my place.”

Bayo is likely to be selected by the Ivory Coast for this summer’s African Cup of Nations.
