Mexican striker Uriel Antuna, currently on loan with Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy, has confirmed Manchester City has extended his contract.
Antuna, who’s currently on the books until 2021, is believed to have earned a pay bump and will be contracted to the Cityzens until 2022.
“The new contract is the result of things that I have been doing well, thanks to the effort and sacrifice.
“Being on the field gives you a lot of experience, a lot of confidence to play, to touch, to throw and do all those kind of things,” he told Fox Sports, as quoted by Marca.
“My dream is to be at City and fight for a place there. There are world-class players, but nothing is impossible. I will fight and try to be in the best teams in the world.”
Antuna, who spent last season on loan at FC Groningen, rose to prominence at the Gold Cup over the summer, providing four goals and two assists to help lead Mexico to the title.
The 22-year-old has been a star with the Galaxy, scoring six goals and adding five assists in 30 appearances playing next to Zlatan Ibrahimović.
Antuna’s been on fire in his last six matches with four goals and a pair of assists.
