Unai Emery has admitted his delight at seeing Reiss Nelson star for Hoffemheim this season.
The England Under-21 international was allowed to leave north London on loan over the summer and has impressed with six goals in just eight Bundesliga appearances so far.
The teenage forward has consistently said he wants to go back to the Emirates at the end of the current campaign and Emery has revealed how pleased he’s been with Nelson’s form.
“Firstly, we are happy when one player is leaving to play [on loan], take responsibility, take rhythm and take a high level like Reiss Nelson in Hoffenheim,” Emery is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.
“We are following him and his performances, his good performances, and also his playing minutes.
“For us, it’s very important to follow him and his performances that he’s giving.
“His progress has been great. In pre-season he worked with us here but minutes and responsibilities are more difficult because he’s young and the decision to leave is important for him and for us.
“I think at the moment he’s progressing how we want.”
Nelson is in line to play some part in Hoffenheim’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk this week, while Arsenal travel to Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League.
