With Unai Emery seemingly out the door at PSG, the manager has decided to open up on Neymar’s polarizing image at the club.

The Brazilian came over for an astonishing world-record fee of €222m, however, he is rumoured to be on the move after one injury-plagued season, with former rivals Real Madrid grabbing the most headlines.

Emery discussed on SFR Sport how Neymar’s lifestyle has directly affected his position at the club.

“That Neymar, after training, has to do four different publicity activities is not the best, but you have to understand it because he is a massive global star who has an impact. He still has to adapt to Paris and to his teammates, not just the Brazilians.”

“He goes to his house and shuts himself off,” Emery continued.

“He’s not there every day, but he’s not yet immersed himself one hundred percent in Paris, the French league, the difficulties, the different football.

“It’s all a process, and at PSG we have been integrating him into the group, where we want him to feel welcome. He has to be patient, we’ve done 50 percent of the work with him, the other 50 percent is missing at the moment.”

The Brazilian certainly doesn’t seem affected on the pitch, having scored 28 goals and adding 16 assists in 30 matches in all competitions before undergoing surgery for a fractured fifth metatarsal.

Neymar rejoined training on Saturday.
