Happy Friday everyone!
We’re now 11 days into the January transfer window and despite the weather outside, that rumour mill is almost white hot with activity.
Here’s the best of today’s gossip.
Despite Maurizio Sarri’s hatred of the transfer market and distrust in most things around the buying and selling of players, it looks as if Chelsea are going to be busy this month.
Two stories from the Telegraph overnight revolve around the west London club, with a pair of big-name arrivals and a departing fan favourite.
They say that Willian will leave to join Barcelona this month with another one-name Brazilian coming the other way – Malcom. And, if that wasn’t enough, they’re also confident that Gonzalo Híguain will be coming to Stamford Bridge on loan until the end of the season.
Good news if you’re a Borussia Dortmund fan. Jadon Sancho has been one of the form players in Europe this season and now a story in the Daily Mail has claimed that the teenager will reject any advances from the Premier League, as he’s loving life in Germany. Prost!
With Mousa Dembélé on the next plane to Beijing, Tottenham are on the hunt for a new midfielder. That hunt, according to Sky Sports, has taken them to Hoffenheim.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men like the look of Florian Grillitsch and could make a €15m bid as soon as this weekend.
ESPN are usually bob on the money when it comes to transfer rumours, but we’re having a very hard time believing this to be true. They reckon Bayern Munich want to hijack Adrien Rabiot‘s proposed move to Barcelona and will make a late play to land the midfielder this month. If we’re honest, we’re already looking forward to February 1.
Back to Stamford Bridge now and a story in Tutto Mercato Web has insisted that Cagliari will reject a €50m bid from the Blues for young midfielder Nicola Barella as they want somewhere closer to €70m. Simply untrue.
Treat this next rumour with the scorn it deserves: The Sun say Real Madrid want to bring in José Mourinho before the end of January, but that to do so they will have to pay Manchester United €15m. So many questions.
Another slow day was livened late last night by the news that Diego Lainez has left América to join Real Betis. Watch out for this kid.
