Here are the nominees …

3rd – Gareth Bale

It took 25 attempts for Gareth Bale to finally be on the winning side as a Tottenham player.

The Welshman was considered a jinx during his first two years in north London and then, suddenly, he exploded.

From left back to world class attacker, there’s an argument to be made that his 2012/13 campaign, in which he almost single-handedly took the club to Champions League qualification, is one of the best individual seasons’ in top flight history.

2nd – Ricky Villa

He only scored 25 goals during his five-year spell at Tottenham, but in that time Ricky Villa via become one of the club’s all-time great forwards.

At a time when English football fans didn’t know how to spell flair let alone what it looked like on a pitch, Villa was a South American sensation who could do things with a ball that were almost unfathomable.

His goal in the FA Cup final replay against Manchester City was voted as the greatest seen at Wembley in the 20th century – and it earned him a place in Spurs folklore.

And the winner is … Harry Kane

Long-regarded as a ‘one season wonder’ – remember that?

Harry Kane has grown into one of Europe’s deadliest marksman and a true English footballing great.

Despite a lack of trophies so far, Kane has been a consistent presence near the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts since his debut in 2009 and has so far netted 136 goals for the north London side.

Should he stay in England, he could be the only striker to get anywhere near Alan Shearer’s league record tally of 260.
