3rd – Steve Archibald

He only spent four years at Tottenham but between 1980 and 1984 Steve Archibald was undeniably one of English football’s finest forwards.

Archibald was First Division top scorer during his first season at the club and then helped Spurs to the 1981 FA Cup.

His partnership with Garth Crooks was one of the best in Tottenham’s storied history with the Scottish legend eventually netting 77 goals in 189 appearances.

2nd – Jürgen Klinsmann

There has never been a player, certainly at Tottenham and perhaps in English football history, that has won over the fans so hard so quickly.

Jürgen Klinsmann signed for Tottenham in August 1994 and immediately became a favourite amongst the White Hart Lane faithful.

The Germany international was voted Football Writers’ Player of the Year at the end of his first season having netted 21 times in just 30 games.

Klinsmann then returned in 1998 on loan and helped save the club from relegation, with his four goal against Wimbledon a particular highlight.

And the winner is … Gary Lineker

One of English football’s true greats who became a legend at three separate clubs.

Gary Lineker’s finest period came at Tottenham where he netted 67 League goals in 105 appearances.

His FA Cup semi-final performance against Arsenal in 1991 was one of the competition’s very best, with Lineker scoring twice in a 3-1 win.

Spurs would end a 10-year wait for a trophy in the final as they beat Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest 2-1.

Here’s how the team is looking so far …

GK: Pat Jennings RB: Sol Campbell LB: Gary Mabbutt CB: Ledley King CB: Mike England CM: Glenn Hoddle CM: Dave Mackay CM: Danny Blanchflower FW: Jimmy Greaves FW: Gary Lineker
