Almost 18 months ago, Mauricio Pochettino compared a 17-year-old Marcus Edwards to a young Lionel Messi.
Now, Pochettino is set to send the youngster on loan to the Championship after his struggles to break into the first team at Tottenham.
The attacking midfielder made his Spurs debut in September 2016 in an EFL Cup cameo against Gillingham. An injury shortly afterwards halted his progress and saw him miss much of last season.
Edwards has been performing reasonably well for the reserves this term but with his path to senior football currently blocked, Spurs have opted to ship him out in pursuit of competitive playing time.
The Guardian write that a number of Championship clubs have shown interest and a deal should completed in the next few days.
It’s unclear which club exactly Edwards could move to but he is an undeniable raw talent and could benefit if placed in the right environment.
