Tottenham ready to battle Chelsea for promising teenager

Tottenham are reportedly ready to battle Premier League rivals Chelsea for Linfield midfield Charlie Allen.

Allen – who turns 16 next month – has already made his senior debut and assisted the side’s equaliser against Coleraine in April.

According to Telegraph Sport, Spurs have enquired about the midfielder and are willing to match any Chelsea bid financially.

Both clubs have shown a willingness to promote youth in recent years and will be seen as interesting options for promising talent.

With Allen still yet to be signed on professional terms, any transfer fee would later be decided via court tribunal.

Celtic, Rangers and Leeds have also expressed an interest in the teenager.
