Tottenham plot audacious move to steal Mateo Kovačić from Chelsea

Tottenham hope to convince Mateo Kovačić to ditch Chelsea and sign for them on a permanent deal in the summer.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid.

According to AS, the Spanish giants are ready to offload the midfielder which has caught the attention of Spurs.

The north London club are plotting an ambitious swoop and hope to convince Kovačić to join them.

Looking ahead, a move may be not so far-fetched and could come down to whether to not Champions League football is on offer in west London.

Despite Spurs’ interest, the Evening Standard claims Chelsea have opened talks with Real about a permanent transfer.

Kovačić has appeared regularly for the Blues this season ands has featured in 17 matches.
