With Danny Rose being linked away from north London again, Tottenham are reportedly eyeing Benfica’s Alejandro Grimaldo as a potential replacement.
The attacking fullback debuted for Barcelona B in 2011 but could not make the step up to the first team.
Since January 2016 Grimaldo has been playing for Benfica, making 63 appearances in all competitions for the Lisbon giants.
Portuguese sports paper Record report Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in the 22-year-old as a likely successor to Rose.
From the left back position, Álex Grimaldo has scored three goals and added seven assists in the past two Primeira Liga seasons.
Should Rose decide to leave after England’s World Cup campaign, Spurs are prepared to allocate resources for Grimaldo’s transfer.
Benfica club president Luís Filipe Vieira has stated the buyout clause on Grimaldo’s contract stands at €30m and, per Record, Tottenham are ready to move forward at that sum.
