Tottenham Hotspur could be about to make a move for Benfica winger Jota.

That’s according to Portuguese outlet Record, who report that Spurs are weighing up a bid for the 20-year-old, who has a €30m release clause.

Jota came through Benfica’s academy and is very highly rated at the club, despite the fact he made just five senior appearances this season.

Lilywhites boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be eager to add to his squad this summer having made no signings in the last two windows.

But the Argentine’s spending spree could be limited to a tight budget, and they have also been linked with the likes of Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen.

The transfer policy would therefore appear to be targeting young players available at reasonably low prices, and Jota would certainly fit that bill.

The Portugal U21 international has been touted as the next big thing to come out of Benfica following the emergence of team-mate João Félix.
