Not only does Hugo Lloris come up against the Premier League’s deadliest strikers on a weekly basis, he also has to face Harry Kane every day in training.

However, when it comes to the toughest attacker he has taken on, his Tottenham team-mate doesn’t even get a mention.

That accolade goes to a Spaniard who he only faced in Europe and always gave the eyes.

Revealing the most difficult forward opponent he has tried to stop scoring, Lloris revealed to RMC Sport: “Raúl always had this look.”

“It’s hard to get out of it, I’ve faced a lot of very big strikers, a player like Raúl, I faced him when he was at Real Madrid and Schalke.

“He gave this look at the goalkeeper, as well as his positioning and he was playing the shots based on that. ”

However, while Raúl came out on top, Lloris also name dropped some other frontmen ‘who have marked the history of football’.

“After (Raúl), there are forwards like Luis Suárez, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo. I do not need to present them, they are forwards who have marked the history of football. ”

And as well as those modern-day forwards, Lloris recalled a real blast from the past as he looked back to his formative years, adding: “At the time, there was also Pauleta when he was at PSG. I played him many times when I was playing with Nice.”
