Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso has been a well-document target for Tottenham this summer and a new report claims that the north London club have a secret weapon in their pursuit of the midfielder.
Lo Celso has impressed for the Verdiblancos this past season having joined on an initial 12-month loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
Betis made that permanent in March with the Argentina international costing €22m.
And just a few months later, he could now cost Spurs €70m.
Manchester United are also thought to be extremely keen on Lo Celso, but football.london have revealed how the north London side have a metaphorical ace up their sleeve.
That ace is Real Betis fitness coach Marcos Álvarez (pictured below, far left).
Álvarez spent a year at Tottenham in 2007, working at the club during Juande Ramos’ ill-fated spell in charge.
But he seems to have made quite the impression during his short time in N17 with Gareth Bale making a beeline for the fitness coach after Betis’ win over Real Madrid last month.
Apparently Alvarez has spoken with Lo Celso and has given Spurs a glowing recommendation, telling the midfielder to choose Spurs over United.
