Not even a year on from a controversial interview landed him in hot water, Danny Rose has again encouraged Tottenham to spend big.

One key difference this time around is he’s in agreement with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Last year Rose was roundly criticised for urging Spurs to stop signing players “players you have to Google”.

Now, with the club once again qualified for the Champions League, Pochettino is aiming higher than ever before, telling the club to “be brave and take risks”on Sunday.

“It is good that the manager has come out and said that,” Rose told the Telegraph. “I hope the manager, his coaching staff, the recruitment staff and the chairman can all come together and give the manager what he wants.

“I am fully behind whatever happens in the off-season, I hope we get some good recruits to help us push on and as the manager said the next step is to try and hopefully win something this year.”

Pochettino has been linked with a move away from north London and there is an underlying concern that the Argentine may leave next summer if his demands aren’t met now.

However, chairman Daniel Levy is in a tricky position.

Spurs are just months away from moving into a new stadium and they will want to keep key players like Harry Kane and Dele Alli while paying for the new ground.

Whether or not they can do that and invest heavily in the squad remains to be seen.
