There is growing confidence within the Tottenham camp that they will soon strike a deal for Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele.

Negotiations with Lyon have been difficult so far, with the French club’s €75m valuation being substantially more than Spurs are willing to pay.

“There have been many proposals but they haven’t met my expectations,” Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told reporters on Tuesday.

However, Football London report that they expect an agreement to be found and that there is confidence from all parties that a deal will be done.

They suggest that all parties are keen for the transfer to go through and that terms will ultimately be thrashed out.

Ndombele himself has also made it known to Tottenham that he would welcome a move to north London this summer.

“Tottenham are a big club, they finished in four place in their league, they were Champions League finalists,” he said this week when quizzed on the interest.

“Which player would not be interested in a big club?”

One thing that is clear is that if Tottenham are to bring Ndombele to the club, they will have to break their transfer record to do so.

That is currently held by Davinson Sánchez, who cost just over £40m from Ajax in 2017.
