Summer signing Giovani Lo Celso will be waiting a little while yet for his full Tottenham debut.
The Argentine has featured from the bench in three of the club’s Premier League games so far this season. Mauricio Pochettino had slowly been building the player’s fitness, but that plan now seems to have been dealt a blow by an injury suffered on international duty.
Lo Celso was called up for this week’s international break by Argentina but returned to north London after suffering a knock.
He received a blow to his hip during Argentina’s clash with Chile.
Spurs confirmed that he will now ‘undergo a period of rehabilitation’ and they expect him to return to full training at the end of October.
The 23-year-old was expected to play a key role for Spurs this season alongside fellow new signing Tanguy Ndombélé, who is also injured.
Worries about the pair settling in have been dampened after Christian Eriksen remained at the club. However, Mauricio will want his new midfielders available and fully adapted to the club as soon as possible.
