Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has revealed that the club pay the biggest bonuses to their players in the Premier League.

There have long been discussions as to how Spurs keep hold of the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, despite paying relatively low wages in English terms.

But at a meeting with the Supporters Trust on Wednesday, secretary Peter Haine brought up the subject in front of the gathered crowd.

The meeting’s minutes read: “Peter Haine mentioned the bonus payments, also. It was felt the bonus structure and incentives should also be considered when discussing players wages as they comprised a significant part of the monies and are the most generous of any club in the Premier League.”

Football.London also revealed that the chairman spoke about manager Mauricio Pochettino.

“Daniel Levy felt that Mauricio Pochettino is the best manager in all the time he has been at Tottenham,” read the minutes from the meeting.

“They see eye to eye in terms of strategy. No player would be sold that Mauricio Pochettino wanted to stay.

“Daniel Levy noted the perception that Spurs needed to spend money on players.

“This wasn’t borne out of fact. There are no guarantees. Big money signings are not always successful.”
