Tottenham will take the unprecedented step of appealing the dubious goals panel ruling that Harry Kane did not score their second goal at the weekend.
Christian Eriksen was officially awarded the strike as Spurs overcame Stoke 2-1 at the Bet365 Stadium.
But the north London club will write to the Premier League and appeal the Goals Accreditation Panel in the hope of getting the goal on to Kane’s tally for the season, report the BBC.
Should the England international get the goal, it will be his 25th of the season – four behind top marksman Mohamed Salah.
Speaking after the match, the 24-year-old was adamant the ball had gone off of him and into the net.
“I swear on my daughter’s life that I touched the ball, but there’s nothing I can do,” he claimed.
“If they turn it around, they turn it around. If they take my word, they take my word.
“It is what it is – the most important thing is that we won the game.”
