At 21 years old, West Bromwich Albion’s Oliver Burke has already seen his career fall as quickly as it rose.

Since his €17m move to The Hawthorns from Red Bull Leipzig, Burke has failed to become a regular at West Brom and has only made one league appearance this season – as a substitute.

However, Mauricio Pochettino reportedly sees him as a promising young talent and Tottenham may offer him a lifeline.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Spurs will look to add to their squad depth by adding the former Nottingham Forest star.

Newcastle are also reportedly interested in the Scotland international.

The Sun reported that during last week’s Johnstone Paint Trophy match against Blackpool, where Burke played the full 90 minutes, both Tottenham and Newcastle sent representatives to monitor the 21-year-old.

Burke has shown a glimmer of hope in the EFL Cup this season, scoring a goal and adding an assist in two matches against lower-league sides Luton Town and Mansfield Town.

Spurs notably failed to make any new signings over the summer – the first Premier League club to do so since the transfer window’s inception in 2003.
