In less than 3 years, Matías Almeyda gave Chivas an incredible five titles, including their first Liga MX crown in more than 10 years, winning the 2017 Clausura crown.

Despite struggling himself, with Chivas currently in 15th place in the 2019 Apertura standings, manager Tomás Boy still managed to criticise the current San Jose Earthquakes boss.

“Almeyda made them run fabulous and convinced them to fight, run and work, that’s Almeyda’s game, he didn’t play football,” Boy told ESPN’s Futbol Picante program.

“I do congratulate him though, he did a sensational job.”

In addition to the 2017 Clausura win, Almeyda led Chivas to a pair of Copa MX titles, the 2016 Supercopa MX, and the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League crown.
