Thomas Tuchel is close to extending his Paris-Saint Germain contract despite the club’s Champions League exit.
According to L’Équipe an agreement is close and could even be confirmed in the next few days.
The German’s current contract runs to 2020, with PSG retaining an option for one further year. The new deal would see a year added, so a fixed contract until 2021 and an option to 2022.
“Yes I want to stay for a long time,” Tuchel recently said. “To develop and have success with this club.”
Tuchel’s PSG have built an incredible 17 point lead at the top of Ligue 1 and are on course to win the Coupe de France.
That isn’t enough for the club’s owners but they are convinced that Tuchel is the right man to take the club forward after qualifying from a difficult Champions League group, winning at Old Trafford and playing such dominant football domestically.
