For the first time since leaving this summer, Theo Hernández has opened up on his tough time at Real Madrid and the unwarranted reputation that accompanied him.
The 22-year-old arrived from rivals Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2017 but failed to have any real impact.
He spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad before sealing a permanent move to Milan this summer, bringing his Real career to an end after just 23 appearances.
In looking back on his time at the Santiago Bernabéu, he did take issue with the public perception many had of him.
“I became known as a bad boy and that’s how I was viewed,” Hernández told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I was also insulted and criticised a lot at Real Madrid when I was there.
“I did some stupid things but I’ve matured and consider myself to be a playful person.
“Now, I spend a lot of time at home relaxing with my dogs and watching tennis on television.”
Despite struggling with his fitness since moving to Italy, the left-back has impressed when he was appeared for the Rossoneri.
