Mohamed Salah is not seriously injured despite having to limp off in the dying minutes of Liverpool’s last-gasp victory over Leicester on Saturday.

Salah was on the receiving end of a robust challenge from Foxes midfielder Hamza Choudhury just minutes before James Milner’s match-winning penalty.

There were initial fears the injury could keep the Egyptian sidelined for a significant period of time but a scan has now revealed that he has only twisted his ankle.

No timescale has yet been offered on the 27-year-old’s recover but there is not thought to be any long-term damage and he could even be fit to face Manchester United at Old Trafford after the international break.

Salah will stay at Melwood and continue his recovery having not been called up by his country even before sustaining the injury.

Choudhury only received a yellow card for the tackle and speaking after the game, Reds boss Jürgen Klopp expressed his annoyance.

“This has to be a red card,” said Klopp.

“It is just too dangerous.

“There are more dangerous challenges, it is possible, but do you see more dangerous challenges than that? It is really rare.”
