Last weekend saw Chelsea wear a stunning throwback shirt.
Inspired by the 50th anniversary of their 1970 FA Cup win, the Blues donned the one-off kit in their defeat of Nottingham Forest.
So, what’s the greatest special edition kit you’ve ever seen?
Manchester United wore a completely blank kit in the 2008 Manchester derby to mark 50 years since the Munich Air Disaster. It was mesmerising.
The pictures from the match look like they’re from another era entirely.
I still think the redcurrant tribute to 1913 kit Arsenal wore to mark their final season at Highbury in 2005/06 is the best of the genre.
Like all good retro tribute kits, it was simple yet classy and complimented the lovely football the Gunners were playing at the time beautifully.
The black and red stripes of AC Milan are instantly recognisable in world football and always make for a classy looking kit. So when they throw a dash of gold over the top to mark the club’s 120th anniversary, the outcome was only going to be one thing – absolutely stunning.
It would have been better still without the sponsor, but who are we kidding, this is 21st century football.
A new entry to the canon, but it really is difficult to look past Borussia Dortmund’s all-black effort from last year.
Celebrating their 110th birthday, the shirt pays homage to the “coal and steel of our home” in the industrial Ruhr region.
The fact that it sold out in under two hours should surprise absolutely no one.
When Chapecoense tragically lost almost their entire first team squad in a plane crash in 2016, Italian side Torino knew how they felt.
They too suffered a similar harrowing experience in the late ’40s and honoured their Brazilian brethren with a touching one-off jersey to mark the one-year anniversary.
Only 1,500 were made and a share of the profits went towards the families of the victims.
