A goalless Tuesday evening, then a Wednesday full of drama. The Champions League has left us feeling well nourished this week.

Here is everything you need to have seen.

‘Hold my beer’

Or don’t, because I’m the most balanced man to ever visit a Champions League game.

This is incredible.

Happy homecoming

Leroy SanĂ© scored one of the best free-kicks we’ve seen anywhere this season on his return to Schalke.

Minutes later, Raheem Sterling’s winner was a moment so great that even the English tabloids gave him a day off.

Lovely scenes. City went behind and down to 10 men but showed the kind of resolve that underlines why they’re considered the favourites by many.

Simeone’s cojones

I did it to show our fans that we have cojones

Well Diego, you certainly made your point.

Ronaldo’s a sore loser

Cristiano Ronaldo put all five digits up at the home fans in Madrid over and over again on Wednesday as he struggled to handle their taunts.

“Five Champions Leagues. AtlĂ©tico zero!” he told the mixed zone after the game.

Is there any need to get this petty?

Ok mate, but you lost 2-0 on Wednesday.

Sometimes you eat the VAR

and sometimes the VAR eats you.

On Wednesday, it certainly felt like VAR was taking huge chunks out of us.

Controversial decisions in both games and a lot of time wasted. Things can’t go on like this.

Fan-tastic Bayern

Bayern Munich fans didn’t trudge through Stanley Park with pints of beer on their heads but they were LOUD.

And then supported lower ticket prices when inside the ground.

Twenty is indeed plenty. Football without fans is nothing.

As for Bayern’s team, well, reports of their demise may have been a little premature.

 and Fab-inho

No Virgil van Dijk. No Joe Gomez. No Dejan Lovren.

With Joël Matip and Fabinho up at centre-back, Bayern Munich managed zero shots on target.

A job well done by the Liverpool defence, which may have some depth to it after all.

When in drought

Poor Luis SuĂĄrez, who has not scored away from home in the Champions League since September 2015.

Lyon was his 16th Champions League away game without a goal. He’s now gone 25 hours since last scoring outside of Camp Nou in Europe’s biggest competition.

And he had the golden chance in France, too.
