The Court of Arbitration for Sport have confirmed that Chelsea will be allowed to sign players in January.

Frank Lampard’s side had originally been banned from registering any new players for two transfer windows after being found guilty by Fifa of signing underage stars.

The Blues appeal has been successful though and now the club are free to add to their squad during the winter window.

The Telegraph are reporting that Lampard will have a transfer kitty of €170m to spend but who will be joining his west London revolution?

Let’s have a look at potential candidates.

Wilfried Zaha

He’s long been linked with a move away from Crystal Palace but January looks like it might finally be the time Wilfried Zaha leaves south London.

Zaha has been one of the very best wide forwards in the Premier League for at least three seasons now but this term has added invaluable goals to his arsenal.

The Ivory Coast international’s agent has already put the feelers out, admitting that Zaha “deserves a new challenge” and with Pedro set to leave, he could be the ideal man for the Stamford Bridge out.

The only sticking point to the deal could be Zaha’s potential price – Roy Hodgson’s men will likely ask for something approaching €80m.

Jadon Sancho

His off-pitch behaviour in recent months screams of ‘angling for a move’ and perhaps that’s exactly what Jadon Sancho will get in January.

The 19-year-old’s gamble to join Borussia Dortmund two years ago has paid off handsomely with him becoming an England regular and a gossip column stalwart.

Pretty much every big club in Europe is thought to be monitoring his current situation and although Dortmund have stated publicly that Sancho is not for sale next month, privately it’s admitted that a bid of €150m would be enough to see him leave.

That would blow a hole in Chelsea’s budget but will Roman Abramovich and co see it as an offer worth making?

Alex Telles

Left-back is an area of some concern for Chelsea going into the second half of the season.

Yes, Reece James has impressed during his sporadic starts but with Cesar Azpilicueta coming into the twilight of his career, the Blues will need to find another defender soon rather than later.

That man, if reports are to be believed, could be Alex Telles of Porto.

He is defensively sound, has a wand of a left foot and can bomb forward at will.

English clubs have come calling before but this could be the window that sees  him leave.

Moussa Dembélé

It’s been quite clear this season that Olivier Giroud is persona non grata at Chelsea and will almost certainly exit for pastures new over the winter.

That leaves a striker-shaped hole in Chelsea’s squad and the perfect man to come in and fill that gap would be Moussa Dembélé.

Dembélé has been banging them in for Lyon since joining from Celtic 18 months ago, earning rave reviews from seasoned Ligue 1 watchers and being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.

If Frank Lampard has any sense, he’ll act swiftly and get the 23-year-old on the next plane to Heathrow.

….  or absolutely no one

A bit of a cheat here but this whole transfer ban business has actually been a blessing in disguise for Chelsea.

It’s allowed the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and the likes to stake their claims for starting berths and subsequently thrive in the team.

Signing a raft of new players could potentially halt their momentum and jeopardise their squad harmony.
