For every Jürgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola in the dugout, there are coaches who are also deserving of great praise.

But for one reason or another, they just don’t get their due.

And we’re here to shine some well-earned light on them, with one from each of the top five leagues.

Chris Wilder

His reputation is only now starting to grow thanks to Sheffield United’s heroics in the Premier League this season – one where they were expected to fight against the drop.

That they have not only staved that off with ease but entered the race for Europe is all down to the coach and his system.

For the former Northampton Town coach is utterly fearless in his approach, playing with a three-man defence and flying full-backs which allows them to dominate.

Even the central defenders in Wilder’s side are encouraged to get over the halfway line and put the opposition into uncomfortable and unfamiliar situations.

He took over United three years ago when they were at their lowest point since the ’80s and has completely revitalised the club from top to bottom.

All that said, there’s no chance of him ever being underestimated at Bramall Lane, where he was a ballboy and player in two celebrated spells.

Plus, we’re all about a manager who get the job thanks to a chance encounter in a pub with the club’s director.

Stéphane Moulin

When Stéphane Moulin took over at unheralded Angers in 2011, they were lying 11th in Ligue 2.

After masterminding their promotion, he has made them a comfortable staple in the top flight, registering several mid-table finishes and never a real worry for relegation.

That has come while changing the philosophy too – converting them from a direct lower league side and into one of the most enjoyable teams to watch in Ligue 1.

The 52-year-old has also done it all with a smile on his face and never grumbles, despite having plenty of good reasons to complain.

None more so than always having his star players sold every summer with Cheikh N’Doye, Jeff Reïne-Adelaide, Karl Toko Ekambi and Nicolas Pépé just some of the players who have left the Stade Raymond Kopa in recent years.

Despite that adversity, he continues to build strong teams each year and has become the face of Les Scoïstes.

A combination of the unfashionable nature of the club and his lengthy tenure mean that he is often overlooked – to the detriment of many.
