Aston Villa’s massive 2-1 win over sixth-placed Bristol City gave them their eighth win in succession and a huge step toward their once-unlikely promotion play-off hopes.
Tammy Abraham, on loan from Chelsea, scored his 23rd goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 55th minute before Conor Hourihane and Famara Diedhiou traded goals before full time.
After the match, Abraham sent his Villa team-mates a stern warning.
“We can’t get complacent now. We have to go into every game like it is our last and put in performances,” the 21-year-old told the Birmingham Mail.
Aston Villa will want to get wins against Bolton and Millwall before they close out the season against top-two sides Leeds and Norwich.
